The bathroom is the hardest-working room in the house: water every day, soap, steam and cleaning chemicals. The right tiles keep it safe, easy to clean and good-looking for years. Use this checklist.
1. Floors: safety first
Wet floors are slippery. Always pick an anti-skid or matte finish for the bathroom floor — especially if you have children or elderly family members at home. Avoid high-gloss tiles on the floor.
2. Walls: easy to wipe
Wall tiles do not get walked on, so you can choose glossy or satin finishes. A smooth surface is easy to wipe and reflects light, which makes a small bathroom feel brighter.
3. Colours that work
- Small bathroom: light colours (white, beige, light grey) make it feel bigger.
- Feature wall: use one bold or patterned wall behind the basin or shower.
- Floor: mid-tones hide water marks better than pure white or black.
4. Size matters
Larger tiles mean fewer grout lines, and fewer grout lines mean less cleaning. On the floor, smaller tiles can follow a slope to the drain more easily. Our team can suggest the right size for your bathroom layout.
5. Don’t forget grout
Grout is where dirt and mould collect. Ask for a stain-resistant or epoxy grout for showers, and choose a grout colour close to your tile colour for a clean look.
